Noruz also known as Nowruz, Nauryz, Navruz, marks the first day of spring. It is the Persian Language term of the Iranian New Year. Nowruz promotes peace and solidarity between generations and within families. It is a time to share hospitality with neighbors and friends which enhances cultural diversity and friendship between people from different communities.
Nowruz can be dated back 3,000 years ago to Zoroastrianism. It is one of the oldest religions of ancient Persians before the Islamic conquest of the 7th century. Nowruz is celebrated in some form in every country which fell under the Persian Empire, especially Iraqi Kurdistan, Iraq, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Georgia, Albania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan
Every country has their own unique and diverse customs and traditions of celebrating Nowruz. Though It is not a religious holiday, It is a time to celebrate new beginnings, prosperity and welcome the future while shedding light on the past. It is common for families to clean their homes, closets and buy new clothes, visit friends and neighbors, share meals and host parties.
