Could you offer a safe and loving home to a child or youth in need?
Peel Children’s Aid Society urgently needs foster homes for children with complex needs, teens and sibling groups. Caregivers from diverse backgrounds who have experience working with young people with medical or behavioural needs preferred.
Caregivers play a pivotal role in nurturing children and youth during an extremely difficult time in their lives. Caregivers look after the day-to-day needs of the child, take them to appointments, attend school events, and facilitate their continued connection to their family, culture and community.
We offer robust training opportunities, professional support from our care team of social workers, nurses, and child and youth workers, and the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a young person.
Caregivers of all genders and cultural backgrounds are welcome. You do need strong parenting skills, a love of children and the time to devote to a child’s emotional and physical needs. To become a caregiver, you do not need to be married, have children, or own your own home. You need to be financially secure – Peel CAS covers costs related to the child’s care but caregivers are not paid a salary. You should reside in a non-smoking home with a suitable bedroom for the child and be able to drive the child to appointments as needed. Child and youth thrive best when there is a full-time caregiver in the home.
