We all share a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of children, and to protect them from harm.

In Ontario, Peel Children's Aid is one of 53 Children's Aid Societies mandated under the  Ontario's Child & Family Services Act  (CFSA) to protect children under the age of 16 who may suffer abuse and neglect by a caregiver.

Brief definitions of abuse and neglect:

Abuse is hurting a child physically or emotionally or by sexual molestation or exploitation.

Neglect is failing to provide proper care or depriving a child of support and affection.

For more information, see the 'understanding abuse and neglect' page.

At Peel Children's Aid, we believe that it is usually best for children to remain in their homes.

However, in certain circumstances we need to bring a child or youth into our care for their safety and wellbeing. We provide safe and nurturing environments for children and young people who can’t live at home while we are involved in making plans for their permanent care.

Anyone who suspects a child might be in need of protection must promptly report it directly to a Children's Aid Society.  In Peel Region, please call us at 905-363-6131. Our lines are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
