Foster parents are an important part of a large team that includes Peel Children’s Aid staff, other professionals and a child’s biological family. Foster parents provide a stable and supportive home that encourages a child’s growth and development.
There are many reasons a child may be separated from his or her own parents and need a temporary place to live. While we believe that it is best for children to stay with their own families, this is not always possible. When a family solution is not available, children come into foster care through the Peel Children’s Aid.
A foster home provides substitute parenting:
for children who cannot safely stay with their own families
on behalf of families that have asked for help during times of crisis
when families need specific help in caring for their children
