This is a unique opportunity for you to help shape Peel Children’s Aid’s child welfare services strategy and delivery.ROLE SUMMARYThe child protection worker provides for the protection of children as defined by the Child & Family Services Act. The role of the child protection worker is to assess the risks and strengths of families in the community and to support families in building their capacities to care for their children. The key responsibilities of this role are on assessing risk, well being and planning for permanency through strong collaboration with children, families, our agency and community partners. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE • Good skills in child welfare case management• Superior skills and experience in clinical assessment, counseling and crisis intervention• Good knowledge of Anti-Oppressive Practice• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, particularly with recordings and reports• Knowledge of child in care success indicators including; child development, education, employment, community connection, and youth criminal justice.• Good understanding of permanency planning and concurrent planning, including kin, and concepts related to family based care. • Good computer skills• Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure • Fully bilingual (French/English)
• BSW or MSW degree from a recognized university and at least one year of related experience in a child protection role.• A class “G” driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle are required.
