Every year Peel CAS selects individuals or organizations to add to the Peel Children’s Aid Honour Roll in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the lives of children and families in our community. On May 25, 2017, Jennifer Meeker was placed on our Honour Roll. Congratulations Jennifer!
Jennifer Meeker, a principal in Upper Grand District School Board, is a founding member and co-chair of the Peel/Dufferin/Halton Crown Ward Championship Team -- a team created by three Ontario Ministries to increase the educational success of Crown Wards in Ontario. The Championship Team is made up of representatives from education, child welfare and post-secondary institutions.
As co-chair of the Championship Team, Jennifer seeks consensus from members while focusing on the needs and voices of youth. She does an excellent job of bridging the needs of both the education and child welfare sectors while moving forward on goals in a positive and inclusive manner.
Jennifer’s seven year leadership of the Crown Ward Education Championship Team has resulted in improved outcomes for youth in care and improved relationships and better coordination of services between education and child welfare. Youth in care now have greater resources to help them reach their full potential, more easily transition to post-secondary education and achieve their goals.
Jennifer is a champion for children and youth in care. She has remained a steadfast supporter who has gone above and beyond in supporting youth while helping to remove barriers to their success.
